Ms. Riley has extensive experience in education as an elementary classroom teacher, special education teacher, speech and language pathologist and principal.
Response to Intervention: Students are assessed on a formal and informal basis. If a student is demonstrating a gap in skills or a delay in skills, the homeroom teacher will begin the RtI (Response to Intervention) process. Parents are part of this process. The team of teachers meets and develops a plan of action to address the gap or delay.
Teacher Support: Ms. Riley coaches and provides support to classroom teachers on differentiated instruction and how to meet the individual needs of all students.
Individual Educational Plans: Students with Individual Educational Plans that are serviced by the local school department and will receive added support as needed.
Orton-Gillingham: The 1st and 4th Grade classroom teachers are Orton-Gillingham Classroom Trained. Orton-Gillingham is an explicit, sequential, systematic, and multi-sensory approach used to teach literacy. Our evidence-based program breaks reading and writing into smaller skills involving letters and sounds, then builds on these skills over time.
